Scholarly work in peer-reviewed journals is considered more scholarly than articles which are simply edited, like the articles you would find in a newspaper or from a popular magazine.  

Some ways to tell if it was peer-reviewed:

1. Restrict your searches in library databases to peer-reviewed sources

2. When you find your journal, try to identify a section that says it is peer reviewed and how

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

3.  Look in your article and see if the article was submitted, then later accepted (a sign of peer reviewing)
